Call for Workshops, Tutorials and Competitions

Researchers from academia and industry are invited to submit proposals for workshops, tutorials, and competitions to be held during CPS-IoT Week 2025 in Irvine, California, from May 6 to 9, 2025.

Important Dates:

  • Proposal submission deadline: First Deadline: November 8, 2024, Second Deadline: December 1, 2024
  • Notification of acceptance: First Deadline: November 15, 2024, Second Deadline: December 15, 2024
  • 1. Workshop Proposals

    Workshop proposals should include:
    • The workshop's name and duration (half or full day).
    • A brief description, motivation, and rationale, emphasizing its relevance to the CPS/IoT community.
    • A draft version of the CFP, including workshop deadlines.
    • Organizer details: names, affiliations, contact information, and short bios. The complete organizing committee should be listed; post-submission changes aren't permitted.
    • A tentative list of prospective TPC members and their affiliations, specifying confirmed participation.
    • The workshop's planned format, including expected paper presentations, talks, panels, posters, demonstrations, and discussion methods.
    • Expected submission and participant numbers.
    • A description of the plans for publicity.
    • For recurring workshops: a history, including submission, acceptance, and attendance stats, and changes compared to prior editions.

    2. Tutorial Proposals

    Tutorial proposals should include:
    • The title of tutorial and its duration (half or full day).
    • A brief description, motivation, and rationale for the tutorial, including the reasons why it is of interest to the broad CPS/IoT community and the potential target audience.
    • The name, affiliation, contact info, and short bio of each organizer (note that the complete organizing team should be included, and later changes are not allowed).
    • The planned format and technical requirements in detail.

Tutorials should interest a broad audience in CPS and IoT; they should instruct attendees about specific topics, teach the use of new systems or tools, or provide the necessary background to understand critical technical advances in CPS- and IoT-related topics. Proposals will be evaluated based on the general interests of the CPS-IoT Week participants, the proposal’s quality, and the presenters’ qualifications. If accepted, the tutorial organizers must provide a beta website containing links to the tutorial materials to the chairs one month before the conference, with preliminary content that will be used in calls for participation.

    3. Competition Proposals

The competitions provide a unique opportunity to bring researchers and practitioners from different communities together to share their experiences in an interactive atmosphere and to foster collaboration for new and innovative projects. They also provide excellent opportunities for student researchers to showcase their skills on cutting-edge research topics. Competition proposals must include:
    • The title of the competition and its duration (half or full day).
    • A brief description of the competition, including what task is under evaluation and why the competition interests the CPS-IoT community.
    • Tell us how the competition will be run:
      • Expected duration and format of the competition
      • Include eligibility and competition categories, if applicable
      • An overview (or draft) of the rules and assessment criteria
        • Request for the Organizing Committee for facilities, including required space (area in square feet and minimum height), power, networking, audiovisual, and other requirements.
        • For continued competitions, provide a summary of previous runs (e.g., the number of participants and their composition) and ideas for improvement. Include a link to the previous competition website or video.
        • Please include the names, contact information, and a brief bio of the competition organizers describing their experience organizing previous competitions, workshops, etc.
        • (Optional) Include a list of potential participants.
        • Follow-up plans (if any) to disseminate the ideas from the competition, for example, through position papers or special journal issues.

    Proposal Submission

Proposals should be submitted in a single PDF file. The proposal itself should not exceed 2 pages. This page limit does not include the organizers’ details (names, affiliations, contact information, and short bios) nor the organizing committee for the workshop proposals. Please submit proposals to https://cpsiot25proposals.hotcrp.com/ with the title:
    • "Workshop Proposal: [Your Proposal Title]" for workshop proposals.
    • "Tutorial Proposal: [Your Proposal Title]" for tutorial proposals.
    • "Competition Proposal: [Your Proposal Title]" for competition proposals.

All submissions will undergo a standard review process within the Organizing Committee. Acceptance decisions will be based on the general interest of the CPS-IoT Week attendees, potential significance, and logistical requirements. The CPS-IoT Week committee reserves the right to cancel workshops, tutorials, or competitions if insufficient participants register.
